Should historic cars be raced at full tilt? Make up your own mind after learning how this ex-Australian C-Type was virtually destroyed.

HOW SERIOUS DOES HISTORIC RACING NEED TO BE - and should replica cars be used instead of genuine? Take the case of this once nicely original C-Type XKC032. It spent quite a number of years in Sydney owned by collector Pat Burke and was demonstrated by Stirling Moss (01) at the 1984 Jaguar commemoration held at now-defunct Amaroo Park racing circuit. The C-Type was sold brand new to the first F1 World Champion Guiseppe Farina, having been displayed at the Brussels Motor Show. It went soon after to the U.S. where it was raced extensively but was eventually modified there with a Ford 4.7 litre V8 engine and a Borg Warner all-synchro gearbox.
