Harley’s latest iteration of their Infotainment system is the called the ‘Boom! Box GTS’ and it has lifted the presentation, functionality and range of data available to the next level.

According to the specifications sheet it uses a TFT Screen, which begged the obvious question, what exactly does that mean? Well, using my Ph.D in Google I discovered it stands for ‘Thin-film Transistor and is a variant of a liquid-crystal display (LCD). It uses thin-film-transistor (TFT) technology to improve image qualities such as addressability and contrast.” It is a field effect transistor.
More important than the geek-speak however, is just how well the whole system works. Yes, it does have a few small bugs, but overall, this really is something pretty special.
GAME CHANGER?
When Brum was briefing me for this piece our conversation went along the lines of “Dave, we are basic blokes and not really fans of on board high tech jiggery-pokery” but after a couple of weeks with the Street Glide Special and employing the ‘Boom’
Screen I have seen something of the (high contrast) light.
