What do Glen Weisgerber, Taz Marazz, Lettering By Glen and Glen Designs have in commom?
They are all the same person, the multi media artist responsible for the creation of Jersey Style chrome lettering as well as Racing Script. Glen Weisgerber of Glen Designs in Edison New Jersey has been lettering race cars and semi trucks for more than 45 years. He and his band of brothers in the NJ sign painting scene have been at the forefront of custom lettering styles that have become famous throughout the world.
Back in the 1970’s when a famous Dragster or Funny Car racer needed his or her car lettered there were many influential lettering artists to choose from. You would think due to the fact that most of the big name cars came from California that there would be plenty of “Real Gone Kats” around to paint and letter them and you would be right. Tom Kelly, Kenny Youngblood and Bill Carter were the baddest brothers of the brush on the left coast. It was one of those California brush men that requested the young talent from the “other “ coast join him out in the Hot Rod capital. Bill Carter said to Glen, if you can get here I got cars for you to paint. Glen was on the next plane and did his first three jobs for Bill. Tommy Ivo, The Blue Max and Tom McEwen’s English Leather Corvette Funny Cars. This was the first of many trips out west to do the trick airbrush, gold leaf and whippy race car script that graced the pages of all the top drag racing magazines.

I was accepted to Art & Design where, at the time, we had to take four periods of art. I fell in love with the airbrush and never put it down since 1988. Fast forward to today, and I continue my education, I attempt to take yearly airbrush classes, in order to improve and grow.
