The unstoppable British team won another superb team gold at the Tokyo Games, as well as a host of individual medals, in a thriller of a championship
IT was a glorious week for Britain in Tokyo, with not only a superb team gold but a host of podium finishes, in every grade we contested, leading to our topping the equestrian table with a total of eight medals.
Equestrian Team GB remains unbeaten in Paralympic team competition, their close-fought Tokyo win the latest in a golden quarter-century since the sport was introduced in 1996.
Having lost to the Netherlands at the most recent World and European Championships, topping the podium was no certainty, but the British team Lee Pearson on Breezer, Natasha Baker on Keystone Dawn Chorus and Sophie Wells on Don Cara M, who was substituted in before the Games owing to C Fatal Attraction’s fitness issues – pulled out all the stops to take the fairytale victory on 29 August.
