Jack and Harry Moore
Horse & Hound
|May 21, 2020
Two young producers are on track to become part of the senior showing elite. Alex Robinson meets the brothers heading up Team Moore

THE show horse world is undoubtedly thirsty for new blood. While the country’s leading show producers continue to set the pace for the younger generation, there are noticeably few up-and-coming riders forging careers in horse production, most going down the pony and native routes instead.
But for Jack and Harry Moore – two talented siblings from Cheshire who are garnering rides, results and admiration – the horse game is where they want to play. The brothers herald from horsey stock and had some solid results on their ponies, but they have taken no chances up until now, and are constantly standing at the top of the lines among some of the industry’s most respected professionals.
“We can afford to have far fewer mistakes,” says Jack, 23. “Our horses have to be perfect in every single way.”
Jack sits with Harry, 21, and their mother, Nicky, at their kitchen table. We can’t give you the usual inside peek around the setup – current lockdown restrictions mean the interview is taking place over video call – but the Moores tell me the yard is situated slap-bang in the middle of rural Cheshire, surrounded by pretty countryside.
They have been settled at the base for 12 months and currently have 14 stables, with eight more being added imminently. Other facilities include a brand new all-weather arena, a lunging pen and a gallop track running round the edge of the paddocks. Harry and Jack’s father, Nick, and younger sister, Georgie, complete the team. Georgie is a similarly gifted rider, following her equestrian roots.
