The drive to increase agricultural productivity and reduce costs continues unabated. This, in turn, spurs the continual development of new implements and systems, as well as ongoing improvements to existing equipment. Joe Spencer reports.
Here are some of the many developments reported on in recent weeks, from new acquisitions to how the Internet of Things (IoT) is helping agriculture:
1 Better silage
The new Pöttinger HIT 8.9 T tedder is an efficient, compact machine with a working width of 8,86m. It can be powered by a 45kW tractor.
The small-diameter rotors ensure a clean pick up and effective spread pattern. The spread angle can be adjusted without tools to match the crop and conditions. Optimal ground tracking ensures clean forage with no soil contamination. Due to the unique rotor geometry, forage is picked up easily and subjected to less beating between the tine arms, reducing leaf loss.
