Planting And Fertilising Cucurbits
I am often asked which fertiliser should be applied to a particular crop. However, more important than which fertiliser to apply is to determine which nutrients are lacking in the soil. Conducting a soil analysis is therefore crucial, and an element such as nitrogen should be added as necessary to suit the crop and conditions.
FERTILISATION
Fertiliser can either be applied in rows or broadcast. Broadcasting is better in the long run as it provides a uniform distribution. However, you can still obtain good results with row placement, where less fertiliser is applied per hectare. Whichever method you use, you should prevent the fertiliser from coming into contact with the seed.
