Anne Marie Burugu, 45

Confronting her fears

CEO of Bia Tosh Distribution Limited and Co-founder of Vivo Active wear, Anne-Marie Burugu, walks about seemingly in the body of a 25 year old. Anne Marie does not look her age. With two grown children, thriving businesses, and various sporting hobbies, Anne-Marie’s life is enviable. She reveals that to get where she is today, she had to go head-on with fear and commit to maintaining a fit and fabulous lifestyle.

Anne-Marie says that she has always felt the urge to self-discover. To find out who she was and what she really wanted in her life, ‘it happened at different points in my life.’

For as long as she can remember, she had always been sporty, ‘I have led an active lifestyle, even though I have gone up and down the scale, it has generally involved activity but a time came when I decided to maintain a constant weight,’ she states. Towards that end, Anne-Marie begun a 365 days challenge where she committed to staying active for 30 minutes every day.

‘I used to be a spa manager before I went into alcohol distribution. Along the way, I became a divorced mum of two,’ recalls Anne-Marie.
