Our August/Sept 2017 – What the Heck? issue – is inspired by those crazy things that take your breath away for a wealth of reasons. From erotic watches to Zaha Hadid’s upcoming hotel in Dubai via a state-of-the-art detox retreat in Bavaria where they’ll have you swallow pill-sized cameras to know you inside and out, you’ll find some of the world’s most outrageous products in our WHOA! supplement. But this month’s main mind-bogglers come courtesy of Queen Rania of Jordan, who chimes in on her view of the Middle East’s current state of affairs (a subject that always gets us going) and Virgin-founder Richard Branson, whose unconventional approach to business has made him one of the world’s most successful entrepreneurs. We then travel in time by going inside a historical house in the heart of Beirut, an 800 square-metre property being carefully restored to its former glory, not as a moneymaking scheme but as a single residence smack dab in the middle of a busy commercial street. Continuing on this strange odyssey, we bravely head to a new luxury lodge in Kenya to track rhinos, yes, just for the thrill of it.
