ITMA Show in Milan, Opens New door of Opportunities for Apparel and Textile Industry Recently team of PERFECT SOURCING visited ITMA the world’s most established textile and garment machinery exhibition since 1951 that was held from 12-19 November at Milan. The show witnessed a footfall of around 1.23 lakh visitors from world over, among them some of the leading industrialists. With the world’s focus shifting towards the usage of green energy and environment conservation, stalls displaying equipment for recycling, waste reduction and pollution prevention were thronged by a large number of visitors. It was very interesting to see the latest breakthroughs and innovations in all the sections, whether it was machinery for spinning preparation or software for design and data monitoring. By visiting such events, one can keep himself abreast of the latest and the best aspects of the industry and it is heartening to see that participation of city industrialists in such events is on the rise. Overall, exhibitors felt that the quality of visitors was high and there was strong buyer interest. Visitors from Italy form the biggest contingent. They accounted for 18 per cent of the visitors.

It was very interesting to see that Indian was amongst one of the top visiting countries with around 9% of attendance from the country followed by Turkey (8% and Germany (7%). Other countries which made it to the top 10 list were France, United States, Iran, Brazil, Pakistan and Spain. The lifting of sanctions on Iran in the near future has buoyed the country’s textile and garment sector, resulting in more visitors.
