The road to entrepreneurship is often treacherous, filled with unexpected detours, roadblocks, and dead ends. It’s more than being a business owner; it’s a perspective and a lifestyle. When you hear the word “entrepreneur,” you are often shown an image of successful people with profitable, rapidly growing businesses. The reality is, according to data, 45% of new businesses fail within the first five years. I’ve had my share of failing over the first five years of building my business. But you live, and you learn. Giving up is not an option. Moving forward with the belief that your business will one day thrive is what’s needed. And not just thrive, but will the business make an impact?
Nowadays, building a business is not just about sales. It’s about the story. It is about who you help along the way. It’s about impact. It’s about sustainability at its core. It encompasses how natural systems work, continue to be diverse, and yield everything required for the environment to remain in balance now and in the future.
It all started within. It all started from what you want the world to see what your business and your story are all about. Sustainability is the key to a better future and a better business. Humans rely on natural resources for business, activities, and survival. Ignoring sustainability can lead to the exhaustion of natural resources. According to McKinsey, having a sustainability strategy allows a company to make long-term investments. A do-nothing approach can mean a more significant loss in the future when it comes to sustainability. We don’t want that. We want to prosper as mother earth prospers along with us.
So what can we do, as entrepreneurs, as business owners, to keep the company alive while maintaining sustainability? Effectively becoming more sustainable may not be easy at first, but the challenge is well worth the reward. Successful entrepreneurs, owners, and leaders look at problems as opportunities.
