The September issue is packed full of exciting content and all manner of projects for you to enjoy and make. We kick off with some great outdoor builds, including Andy King’s purpose-made planter, which can be painted to add a touch of colour to any garden; Edward Hopkins’ garden chair will perfectly complement any outdoor space; and Dustin Van den Abeele’s heart-shaped chairs and table will certainly be adored by youngsters. If you like to make your own tools, however, then check out Andy Brough’s article on making your own DIY circular saw, or if turning is your thing, then Les Thorne’s ‘burry nice vases’ will surely whet your appetite for raiding your timber pile! We also have two brand-new technical series for you from Peter Bishop and Dennis Keeling. In his ‘beginners’ guide to power tools’ series, Peter kicks off by exploring powered saws and offers some great tips on getting the best from them, and Dennis’ CNC routing series takes you through the steps for making your very own step-stool. Our cover star this month is Jory Brigham, who’s superb ‘Mackenrow’ table tennis table forms our ‘Centrefold’. Made using black walnut and brass inlay, this design harks back to a ‘70s aesthetic and is sure to stand out in any games room, and if you’re a fan of wacky designs and thinking outside the box, then you’ll love Eric Simonds’ fantastic bird box designs, which are sure to put a smile on your face. And to top it all off, we have the start of a fantastic competition from Felder that will span six issues. Make a piece of furniture from scratch, document the process, take some great photos and you could be in with the chance of being one of five finalists all vying for first, second and third place prizes – see full details on page 44.
