Double & quits as Dutch get final word

GREAT BRITAIN crashed out of the Davis Cup in Glasgow after Andy Murray and Joe Salisbury just failed to pull off a remarkable rescue act last night.

Leon Smith's team, who lost 2-1 to the USA on Wednesday, went down by the same scoreline to the Dutch and now can't qualify for next month's World Cup of Tennis quarter finals.

The doubles partnership were outgunned by duo Wesley Koolhof and Matwe Middelkoop, who ran away with a first set tie break 7-0.

While the Brits won a nerveshredding shoot-out of their own in the second set by 8-6, a single break of serve in the decider was enough to give the visitors a 6-3 victory and render the clash with Kazakhstan tomorrow meaningless.

Britain's Davis Cup destiny lay in the hands of Murray and Salisbury after Cam Norrie lost in straight sets to Dutch No.1 Botic van de Zandschulp.
