THE impact of the pandemic has meant 75 per cent of midwives are considering leaving the NHS, it was claimed yesterday.
Emma Currer, from the Royal College of Midwives, told the Scottish Covid-19 Inquiry the profession was "at breaking point" with three-quarters of respondents to a survey saying they were thinking about quitting.
She said there had been a "conflict" around PPE during the pandemic, while demand for home births went up due to concerns about hospitals.
