Stefen Chow and Huiyi Lin are an artist duo whose work serves as a visual chronicle of the intricate tapestry of societal phenomena, geopolitical structures, and human behaviour. They invite us to explore and question the nuances of modern society’s ever-evolving landscape.
Curiously enough, their backgrounds couldn’t be more distinct: Chow, a renowned photographer-director, and Lin, a seasoned economist and market researcher specialising in public economic policy. Despite their diverse professional paths, their artistic collaboration as Chow and Lin has been a harmonious fusion of their unique talents. One of their most remarkable achievements, the 10-year project, The Poverty Line, was recently acquired by The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA).
Beyond photography, this dynamic duo employs a variety of lens-based media. From satellite images capturing the plight of the homeless to recorded interviews with industry experts accompanying their installations, their artistic range knows no bounds. One of their most recent artists, their intention is not to make bold statements but rather to pose profound questions. “Our goal,” they explain, “is to invite people to question their worldviews and life choices.”
