A Common BRICS Currency Do We Really Need It?

BRICS aspires to internationally straighten the geopolitical conditions in favour of its member nations' economic, geographic and demographic advantages. It has its multilateral New Development Bank (NDB), which is a powerful tool for BRICS to challenge the West's dominance in global financial institutions. In line with this aim, the idea of a common BRICS currency has also been proposed. Russian President Vladimir Putin is advocating for independence from the US dollar and Euro due to Western sanctions.

Ever Heard Anarcho-Capitalism?

The presidential victory of Javier Milei in Argentina puts at the head of state the first self-proclaimed \"anarcho-capitalist\" in modern history or probably the first person ever to win an election at this level to identify with that term. But what this is? So here is the explanation as Jeffrey A. Tucker understands it.

THE WEAPONIZATION OF THE DOLLAR

Nations around the world are trying to eliminate or reduce their dependence on the dollar out of fear that the U.S. could use Russia-style sanctions against them if the U.S. disapproves of their conduct. Even nations around the world may accelerate their dumping of Treasury securities and their flight from the U.S. dollar. This would increase interest rates in the U.S. and hurt everyone. James Rickards says that none of the sanctions would be effective or even possible without the use of the dollar and the dollar payments system.

Need to Make Big Unlisted Entities and Mature Start-Ups More Responsible

The Company Law Committee is considering a comprehensive structure to make larger unlisted firms comprising mature start-ups under a stringent supervisory framework. Among other rules and regulations, the committee is expected to deliberate elevated levels of guidelines on financial reporting. Obligatory submission of quarterly or biannual financial statements is among the directives being discussed for these entities, for which a permitting provision was introduced in the Companies Act in 2021. But a complete reporting frame has yet to be announced.

BLACK SEA SECURITY ACT COULD BEGIN WWIII

The Russia-Ukraine war began with a limited special military operation. It's likely that Putin undertook the operation in order to bring Ukraine to the negotiating table, not to conquer it. Essentially, Putin wanted Ukraine to abandon any plans to join NATO and to pledge neutrality. By the way, people say Putin is a crazy warmonger who just wanted to retake Ukraine and incorporate it into the Russian Federation.

Like! Like!! Like!!! It Is A Virus, A Cancer, A Killer Of Erudition

If you say “like” a lot, it makes you seem perhaps younger and hipper and in touch with the prevailing ethos. Jeffrey A. Tucker feels that no matter the underlying motivation—fear, obscurantism, the desire to fit in, the deliberate dumbing down of high-level erudition, the longing for seeming youth—this habit is eating away at the dignity of language itself. Sloppy speaking permissions sloppy thinking, and it works the other way too: when people stop thinking clearly they stop speaking clearly. This creates a reinforcing cycle of decline. Purging the word “like” from your vocabulary, unless absolutely necessary and appropriate, should be part of that for every civilized person of any age

OVERHAULING DELISTING REGIME

Despite the changes made to the SEBI Takeover Regulations in 2021, there is still a pressing need to update the current delisting process. Many delisting deals fail due to outdated requirements that are still mandatory. A smooth listing and delisting process is essential for maintaining the stability and integrity of the Indian securities market. Also there are valid commercial reasons why a company should be delisted, and it is not in the best interest of public shareholders to force companies to remain listed, especially if there is little to no trading in their securities or if their business no longer justifies continued listing. Despite the changes made to the SEBI Takeover Regulations in 2021, there is still a pressing need to update the current delisting process. Many delisting deals fail due to outdated requirements that are still mandatory. Now, the SEBI will release a discussion paper on this subject by December 2023, seeking comments and inputs from stakeholders and market participants

FOSTERING ENTREPRENEURSHIP IN EMERGING INDIA

In India the majority of the population constitutes of youngsters who are beaming with ideas that can positively disrupt the business landscape. Corporatism, An Attack On Liberalism?

Corporatism is anything but radical. The word is a perfect descriptive of the most successful form of statism of the 20th century. In the 21st century, it has been given new life and an ambition that is global in scope. Jeffrey A. Tucker feels that it is also the single most vexing problem we face today, far more of a going concern than old archetypes of socialism and capitalism. Corporatism began as a fundamental attack on what was then known as liberalism. Liberalism began centuries earlier with the end of the religious wars in Europe and the realization that permitting religious freedom was overall good for everyone. It lessens violence in society and still retains the opportunity for the vigorous practice of faith.

Byju Fiasco: A Blow To Start-Up Ecosystem

Byju's, which arose as perhaps one of the most dominant start-ups after Flipkart, is on a slippery slope. Issues like defaulting on loan settlement, handing over pink slips to thousands of employees, delayed release of FY22 financial statements, the resignation of the auditor, and, the exit of three external board members without giving specific reasons raise serious questions vis-à-vis corporate governance. And it does not augur well for the start-up ecosystem, which has thrived on easy money flowing in from foreign investors. Pathetic governance and scam will put off financiers making it all the more difficult for the honest ones to raise money.
