Assam, Nagaland to pull back forces from border

DAYS after the deadly border clash between Assam and Mizoram policemen, Assam on Saturday reached an agreement to de-escalate tensions with Nagaland, another neighbouring state with which the northeastern state has an ongoing territorial dispute.

The decision was made at a meeting, held between the chief secretaries of the two states, in Nagaland’s Dimapur town was described as “historic” by the Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
