THE punishing heatwave, which is keeping Kerala on its toes, is likely to continue for the rest of the week even as two persons succumb to heatstroke in Palakkad and Kannur in the last two days.
IMD Warns Heatwave To Continue; 2 Die Of Heatstroke

The Meteorological Department issued heatwave warnings in Palakkad, Thrissur and Kollam on Monday based on the persistent high temperature in these regions.

Palakkad has remained the hottest place in Kerala with maximum temperature hovering above 41 degrees Celsius. In the other two districts the temperature is expected to cross 40 degrees Celsius.

According to the forecast, the maximum temperature in Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Kozhikode and Kannur will be 38°C while it is a degree less in Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Malappuram and Kasaragod districts till May 2. In Thiruvananthapuram district the temperature can reach up to 36°C. According to the Meteorological Department, the maximum temperature in these districts are 3-5°C higher than normal.
