DAVINA McCall has blasted the misinformation surrounding HRT after going through the perimenopause at 44.

In a highly personal documentary, the TV star said she feared she was suffering from dementia after experiencing night sweats, insomnia, low mood, anxiety and brain fog.

Davina also told how HRT changed her life, despite the shame she initially felt at being on it.

The therapy has been demonised since it was wrongly linked to breast cancer in a study 20 years ago.

Davina, now 53, said: “I was going mad. I thought I was getting some sort of early-onset dementia. The menopause did not even cross my mind as I was 44. I just thought it was too young, so I battled on for a year.”
