CARTIER HAS MADE A HABIT of releasing eye-catching skeletonised timepieces during the last dozen or so years. Beginning with the Santos 100 in 2009 and then following last year's surprising Santos-Dumont "Lacquered Case", Cartier is extending the theme to its Dumont collection with a newly created open-worked movement. The Santos-Dumont Skeleton Micro-Rotor, which makes its premiere in three variations, underscores Cartier's commitment to the Santos-Dumont, the model most faithful to the 1904 watch made for aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont.
