Since I joined Men’s Folio in 2019, art found its home in the November issue. Over the next few years, right up to 2025, it became a tradition for us. This year marks the start of something new. The art issue now finds a new home in the Men's Folio April issue, where we've reshaped our editorial cadence as part of a broader refresh.
The timing could not have been better, given the exacerbating tension and anxiety that grips the world. In our conversation with Honor Harger of the ArtScience Museum, she closed by reflecting on the position of art. “Art has always helped nourish the soul through the ages and offer a sense of meaning beyond the everyday, and when there's so much anxiety and tension in the world, it feels more important than ever,” she says. “Artists have the ability to hold space for both darkness and hope. They act as intermediaries between the two — acknowledging difficulty while gesturing towards possibility. That, I think, is incredibly necessary today.”
That said, this issue is not art in its conventional sense. Through the unique lens of Men’s Folio, we explored creativity in ways we know best rather than confining features to galleries or canvases. Creativity takes centre stage not as a singular discipline but as a way of youthful expression — fluid, evolving and deeply personal. As you flip the pages of this reimagined approach, we urge you not to be pedestrian in your observation, but to see art as something to live with, engage with, and ultimately make your own.
