CM Rekha Gupta Straight Talk, Strong Action

Rekha Gupta, a name, a woman contender has entered the Delhi Assembly with an impact; winning her seat by a commanding margin of over 2.9 lakh votes against her AAP rival. This victory has paved the way for her elevation to the post of Chief Minister. Being a student of Daulat Ram College, Delhi University, she got an exposure to politics with being a member of one of the leading political parties of DUSU, i.e., Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) way back in 1992. Establishing a great leadership quality she served as the General Secretary of the Delhi University Students' Union in 1995 and took over as its president the following year.

Over the last thirty years, she gradually expanded her political experience—holding various roles within the BJP's Delhi wing and working in the municipal corporation. Today, her journey comes full circle as she becomes the fourth woman to hold the Chief Minister's office in Delhi.

Delhi received a female Chief Minister after a long time. How are you feeling about this?

At this significant moment, I definitely carry a strong sense of accountability along with immense pride. I would sincerely like to thank the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi for reposing faith in my capabilities and selecting a woman to assume such a significant role. His decision goes beyond tokenism, it symbolises a genuine, honest and action-oriented approach to empowering women. I express my gratitude not only personally but on behalf of women across the nation, for the dignity and trust he has extended. Through his vision, we will definitely witness a shift toward sustainable development soon that would include every section of society.

How do you plan to ensure women's safety and empowerment through non-policing, structural changes, especially after BJP's criticism of 'lipstick feminism'?
