Home renovation guru Neale Whitaker explains how greenery can boost the selling price of your property

For those who are looking to up the ante on their home's aesthetics and overall value, Neale Whitaker is the go-to man.

The interior design expert has a wealth of knowledge when it comes to real estate and renovations, thanks to his gigs on The Block and Love It Or List It, and he's now working with Greener Spaces Better Places to encourage home owners to go green.

With some handy data from Domain, the organisation's Plant Value Report found homes that feature established trees, landscaped gardens or even a collection of indoor plants sell for higher prices and attract more buyer interest.

"As humans, we engage with greenery - it changes our perceptions of things, so it makes sense that we engage more, and probably more immediately, with the properties that have got beautiful greenery," Neale explains. "Whether that's a beautiful arrangement of plants in some of the rooms, a green balcony or a back garden."
