Colour your LOCKS younger

If you're BRUNETTE

Keeping greys at bay on brown hair can feel like a full-time job. The problem is, layering more and more pigment onto the hair can result in a blocky, unnatural colour that's very obviously not growing from your scalp. 'A lot of it is due to colour application,' explains Michele Antiga, signature colourist and stylist at Gielly Green. 'If, when doing your roots, your colourist overlaps too much over pre-coloured hair, it can cause a build-up, and that over-saturated colour will look dull and heavy.' The same applies if you're dyeing your hair at home. 'Try to avoid colouring too regularly, and remember you don't necessarily need to colour root to tip every time,' advises Maya Robinson, colourist at Gielly Green. If your hair is super dark, try adding some lighter pieces, so the contrast between brunette and any greys feels less stark. 'It's great to add some subtle balayage,' suggests Maya.
