Nobody knows how their child's future will turn out, but devoted mum Lorin LaFave had high hopes for her son Breck Bednar. Hard-working, popular and ambitious, Breck was on course to enjoy a happy, successful life.
Yet, tragically, after forming an online friendship with a stranger, his future was brutally snatched away when he was just 14. Next month marks the 11-year anniversary of Breck's horrifying murder, after he was groomed and lured to his death on 17 February 2014 by Lewis Daynes, then 18.
RISING THREAT
Terrifyingly, a decade on from Breck's killer being jailed for life, the situation is more dangerous than ever. NSPCC research has revealed that online grooming cases against children have increased by 89% in the past six years. So, what can we do to keep our children safe from online predators?
