If the man is older it is usually implied he 'traded in for a younger model' and if the woman is older she is immediately labelled a cougar.

But with new research finding that women with younger partners have more fulfilling sex lives, have 'cougars' actually got the right idea?

While they might not have as many years of experience as an older man, a young man's enthusiasm and, let's face it, stamina, could offer the perfect antidote to a midlife bed drought.

According to the study, women with toy boys reported better overall sexual satisfaction compared to those dating older men. But are mind-blowing orgasms everything? Another study found that couples with a five-year age gap are 18% more likely to split up than those of the same age, rising to 39% for couples with a 10-year age gap and 95% for those with a 20-year age gap.
