The King wants him home, but the Prince of Wales has different ideas for his 'lonely' brother, says royal editor Emily Andrews

It has been seven long years since Prince Harry celebrated Christmas at Sandringham.

Since then, the Duke of Sussex has been estranged from his family as he lobbed grenade after grenade at them through TV interviews and his autobiography.

Now, he's let it be known that he wants reconciliation and to visit the UK much more often - even bringing Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, and their children, Archie, six, and Lilibet, four.

After a successful meeting with his father earlier this year, there's been talk that King Charles could invite the Sussexes for Christmas. The King, 76, has only ever met Lilibet once (in 2022 when she visited the UK as a baby for the late Queen's platinum jubilee) and Archie a handful of times.

I'm told he'd love to see much more of his grandchildren and was delighted when Harry gave him some framed pictures when they met for tea in September.

The King's cancer treatment and constitutional duties in the UK means it's fairly difficult for him to visit Montecito in California, home to Harry and Meghan. An invitation to a royal residence makes more sense.

In 2018, the pictures of the 'Fab Four' - as Catherine, Princess of Wales, William, Prince of Wales, Harry and Meghan were known - made headlines round the world. Here was the bright future of the Royal Family in lockstep with each other.
