Let's start with the good news. Puckering up can lower the levels of the stress hormone cortisol and increase the levels of a different hormone called oxytocin. This hormone is released during labour and has been proven to assist bonding between a mother and newborn, as well as boosting feelings of love and aiding relaxation. Consequently, kissing can improve your mood and wellbeing, as well as strengthening your relationship.
