Prince Andrew’s infamous BBC interview may have gone down in history as “car-crash TV”, but a movie based on the incident is winning praise.

Netflix film Scoop has been earning mostly excellent reviews for its re-creation of events leading up to the 2019 Newsnight interview, which was described as the most disastrous royal interview in history.

Applauded for its taut dramatisation and gripping performances, Scoop – which stars Rufus Sewell as Andrew, Gillian Anderson as reporter Emily Maitlis and Billie Piper as the TV producer who convinces Andrew to be grilled on air – may be compelling viewing for many Netflix subscribers, but it won’t be going down well with The Firm.
