From ancient times to contemporary Hollywood and across cultures and continents, a recognisable set of character types have recurred in stories, belief systems and symbols: the immutable personality patterns psychiatrist Carl Jung described as 'archetypes engraved on the human psyche'. And just as they appear in myths and narratives, these personality blueprints shape us individually, influencing how we work, love, lead, fight and create.

Recognising, understanding and honouring your archetype means becoming fluent in what author Caroline Myss calls the 'language of the soul', with insights into your talents, ideal career path, recurring relationship patterns and self-image. They can also be a useful and fun way to understand the people in your life.

HOW TO SCORE

Assign one point to each archetype you chose. The archetype with the highest score represents your dominant instincts and behaviours, and the one with the second-highest score reveals nuances in your personality. The lowest-scoring archetype is your shadow, highlighting energies you repress or misunderstand.
