When Wedding Affair asked eleven of the leading names in the industry what the biggest trends for 2026 are going to be, the answers, though pointed to diverse directions, were unexpectedly moving towards similar themes: authenticity, mindfulness and modernisation through technological advancements.

Gone are the days of cookie-cutter themes and aesthetics. Couples today are adding a sacred touch to wedding celebrations like never before. Personalised themes are going to soar in 2026, with colours, decor and structures that fully represent who they are and what they stand for. Nitya Bagri, Co-Founder of A New Knot, points towards a “very clear shift from ‘grand for the sake of grandeur’ to ‘grand but meaningful’.” She further talks about personalisation, highlighting that, “couples no longer want decor that just looks impressive; they want something that feels personal, thoughtful and reflective of their identity.” This trend focuses more on building an atmosphere, rather than ‘picking a theme’.

Vintage, modern, fusion, regional; though these concept ideas seem very extravagant and aesthetic to imagine, almost every upcoming decor is going to come from a place of personal identity rather than trend-following. Adding on to Nitya’s statement, Ketan Sawant, another Co-Founder, states, “It’s mainly because couples want their wedding to reflect who they are, not just visually, but emotionally. A nd personal identity not only means who the couples are today but also where they've come from, their roots, their cultures.”

This means, in 2026, couples are going to lean more towards blending heritage with contemporary structures and present their story in a way that speaks for itself. A part from the cultures, destinations are also playing a huge role in storytelling. Couples want everything authentic without having to compromise on aesthetics. They want the wedding destination to work in favour of the vision of their dream wedding instead of against it, which also comprises the colour palette of their wedding decor.
