Being in Darjeeling during the festive days offers a unique experience of tradition.

Festival of Lights in the Hills

The simplicity of the life of the locals and their warmth will transcend you into a world of unblemished happiness.

The golden sunshine retreats slowly as darkness prevails. All the shades of the sundown dissolve into a stygian blackness. Tiny lights adorn the mountain slope like a diamond necklace, setting the perfect backdrop for the angels of the night to descend. The queen of the hills is all decked up to greet you to an exotic world that stays forever young, ready to be explored, all over again.

The hill station, sprawled under the mighty summits flaunting their golden crowns at the daybreak and draping an alabaster whiteness as the day progresses, the people, their simple living, the chilly breeze, the undulating walkways, and everything there brew up strange chemistry that makes you feel more and more in love with life and filled with happiness and joy.

A GREEN WARRIOR in the heart of the Thar

I had the pleasure of meeting Dr Jitendra Solanki during a training programme on ecotourism organised by the Bombay Natural History Society (BNHS) and was instantly taken in by his deep love for the desert landscape. His knowledge of Rajasthan's wildlife, its resilient people, and the delicate balance that defines this unique ecosystem was truly inspiring. What stood out most was his passion for showcasing a different, more responsible side of Rajasthan, one that celebrates its natural heritage and communities with equal respect and sensitivity. It is for this; we celebrate him today as a Green Warrior.
