ON A 2023 visit to Cape Cod, I noticed something unexpected while checking in at the Wequassett Resort Golf Club (doubles from $404): a Barbour Borrowing Closet, stocked with waxed-cotton jackets and weatherproof boots for guests to use in case of an April shower. Since that stay—which did indeed feature a downpour—I've noticed an ever-growing number of similar programs. Outerwear is a particularly popular item, but watches, handbags, and more can now be borrowed at hotels both near and far. Here are a few of my favorite services.
