ADVENTURE ON THE ROADS AND RANGES
Outlook Traveller
|February - March 2026
Norway is a country best experienced in motion-behind the wheel on a winding coastal road or on foot along mountain trails that lead to some of Europe's most dramatic viewpoints.
-
From engineering marvels that skim the ocean to hikes that reward effort with vertiginous views, adventure here is inseparable from landscape.
Cliffs and Peaks
For those drawn to the mountains, Preikestolen, or Pulpit Rock, is among Norway's most iconic hikes. Rising 604 m above the Lysefjord, the flat-topped cliff attracts over 3,00,000 hikers each year. The eight-kilometre round trip from Preikestolen Fjellstue takes around four hours and is graded as moderately demanding, with some steep sections. While most visitors tackle the hike between May and October, guided tours also offer safer options in shoulder seasons. Start in the early morning or late afternoon to avoid crowds. Sunrise hikes reward early risers with a quieter, more atmospheric experience.
