Australian hospitality shines on a 14-hour flight between hemispheres

Background

After an unforgettable eight days exploring Australia - luxuriating in all three Langham Hotels properties while visiting Melbourne, the Gold Coast and Sydney - it was time to head back to the Northern Hemisphere. This nearly 14-hour flight on Qantas wouldn't just mark the end of what had been my first trip down under. It would also officially secure my AAdvantage Platinum Pro and Oneworld Emerald status. With that milestone in mind, I was eager to settle into seat 14A and begin the long journey home.

Sydney Airport made an excellent first impression with its dedicated premium security lanes for business class passengers. I breezed through the process in minutes before heading straight to the business lounge.

The space was well-appointed, with ample seating, plenty of charging outlets, and a solid selection of food and beverages. I helped myself to a few cold salads while unwinding before boarding.
