Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7

Samsung's new flip phone is fun and feature-packed, but not exactly subtle
-
The return of Oasis, a Fantastic Four blockbuster in cinemas, and flip phones. Hard to believe it's 2025 and not the noughties. Flip phones, however, look quite different nowadays, as evidenced by the Galaxy Z Flip 7. Samsung seems to have learned a lot since its first-gen Flip, and this seventh iteration is one of its most compelling foldable phones yet.
The outer surface of the Z Flip 7 features a 4.1in edge-to-edge Dynamic AMOLED 2X display, which can be used to interact with apps or access key information at a glance. We love using it to interact with the media controls while streaming music. There is something pleasing about having a palm-sized portable music player, making us yearn for the days of iPods.
Unfolding the phone from its clam-like shell (yes, you can snap it shut if you're feeling sassy) reveals a 6.9in Dynamic AMOLED 2X display, which sports a 21:9 aspect ratio - the classic ratio for movies. That 21:9 ratio made phones such as older Sony Xperias a bit awkward to carry around, so a compact shell that can be folded in half for pocketability is a smart move that also satisfies our AV needs.

Luxman E-07
Ask us to talk about some of our favourite high-end phono stages of all time, and it wouldn't be long before Luxman's excellent valve-based EQ-500 is mentioned. What Hi-Fi? tested this immaculately engineered unit back in 2017, and it made such an impression that we used it in our reference system for a while.
