ELON MUSK PREDICTS 'WORK WILL BE OPTIONAL' AS AI AND ROBOTS AIM AT POVERTY ERADICATION

During a public forum this week, billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk laid out a speculative vision in which artificial intelligence and humanoid robots reshape labor, economics and human purpose within the next decade or two.

Speaking at the U.S.-Saudi Investment Forum, Musk said that he believes advanced robotics and AI systems could eliminate poverty and make traditional work optional. He suggested that in a future scenario where machines perform most labor, currency may lose meaning and humans will engage in “work” primarily by choice rather than necessity.

Musk framed the transformation as dependent on continued progress in robotics and Al infrastructure, positioning his company's ambitions with the Tesla Optimus humanoid and related automation initiatives at the center. While emphasizing that the timeline remains uncertain, he indicated a 10-20 year window during which these changes may unfold.
