Speaker grilles don't typically show up on the backs of phones, and the 'sound by Bose' branding is your clue that the F8 Ultra does something special on the audio front.

It's essentially a miniature subwoofer, which gives the down-firing main driver and earpiece tweeter a serious boost.

That's enough to overshadow the display, which is no mean feat as it's a 6.9in whopper. The resolution is plenty sharp, the adaptive refresh rate is smooth, and it delivers engaging colours that don't overegg the saturation.
