Pokémon Legends: Z-A

Stuff South Africa

|

January/February 2026

In a lot of ways, Pokémon Legends: Z-A feels like a long-lost Wii U relic, salvaging some fun battles from an otherwise drab world.

Pokémon Legends: Z-A

Love it or hate it, Pokémon Legends: Arceus was one of the series' more innovative entries meaning it was only a matter of time before we got a continuation of the formula.

Pokémon Legends: Z-A is that continuation, with enough twists and turns to stand (kinda) tall on its own. Some are great, and others... not so great. Fortunately, the great outweighs the bad, at least in our book, making for an all-round fun experience. Combat evidently called 'shotgun' during development, with the other elements - story and exploration chief among them - taking a backseat. As just about anyone familiar with Nintendo would expect, the OST sits in the driver's seat. Legends: Z-A follows your character arriving in Lumiose City as a tourist, before being whisked away to Hotel Z. It's here that you'll learn about the Z-A Royale and, eventually, the Rogue Mega Evolution threat. Believe us, it's nothing to write home (or here) about.
