In a recent interaction with Sejal Singh B G, Correspondent at siliconindia, Dr Jitesh Manghwani shared his insights on 'Advancing Precision Spine Surgery with Robotic Accuracy and Patient Outcomes'.
In today's world, navigating an unfamiliar city without Google GPS feels unthinkable. Spine surgery, especially when dealing with complex deformities or distorted anatomy, is no different. Modern robotic tools function as a GPS for surgery, offering surgeons unparalleled clarity and confidence in navigating the spine's intricate landscape. The foundation of robot-assisted spine surgery lies in a 3D-defined CT scan, which is uploaded into the system to create a virtual model of the patient's spine. This enables meticulous pre-surgical planning before the first cut, where surgeons determine the exact screw size, precise entry point of screws, screw angles and depth of insertion well in advance. This virtual rehearsal transforms uncertainty into confidence, especially in unknown surgical territory where anatomy may be altered by disease, degeneration, or prior surgeries.
