On a humid weekday morning in Noida, long before the city's flyovers begin to simmer with traffic, Himanshu Kumar is already at work. Not poring over one more slide deck or chasing the next deal those are byproducts, not goals but refining a model: a way to build enterprises that are fast without being fragile, innovative without being irresponsible, and inclusive without being slow. As Vice President at Compunnel Software Group, and the strategic mind behind Compunnel Digital's India play, Kumar has spent his career turning transformation from a slogan into a system.

Ask him why digital and his answer doesn't begin with technology at all. "Adoption succeeds not because tools are sophisticated," he says, "but because they align with human workflows and business goals." It's a simple sentence that reads like a manifesto. In his telling, digital transformation is a three-part investment in people, processes, and platforms, in that order. Put differently: the best technology is the kind you don't notice, because it simply fits.

That perspective was forged in India's complexity. This is a market that contains multitudes: dozens of languages, disparate regulatory regimes, wildly varied consumer behaviors, and business models that coexist from the hyper-formal to the informally ingenious. For Kumar, this heterogeneity is not a constraint but a crucible. "India gives you natural laboratories," he says. "If it works here, it will scale almost anywhere." The ability to manage complexity at scale, he believes, has become a uniquely Indian competitive advantage.
