SKY SPORTS UNVEILS NEXT-GEN BROADCAST FEATURES FOR 2025/26 PREMIER LEAGUE SEASON
AppleMagazine
|August 15, 2025
Sky Sports is preparing to give Premier League coverage its most ambitious upgrade in years, unveiling a suite of new features for the 2025/26 season that aim to deepen fan engagement, improve broadcast quality, and bring cutting-edge technology into live match analysis.

The announcement, made ahead of the league's fixture release, underscores Sky’s push to maintain dominance in UK sports broadcasting as competition from streaming platforms intensifies.
The changes include ultrahigh-definition HDR feeds for every match, expanded interactive viewing options, real-time tactical insights, and Al-assisted commentary tools. For the first time, Sky will also introduce multi-angle streaming on its Sky Sports app, allowing viewers to switch between fixed tactical cameras, goal-line views, and aerial drone shots on demand.
A NEW ERA FOR MATCHDAY VIEWING
Sky’s 2025/26 package will deliver all Premier League fixtures in 4K HDR with Dolby Atmos sound as standard, a move aimed at creating a more immersive home viewing experience. This matches the broadcast quality offered by some top U.S. sports coverage and positions Sky ahead of most competitors in European football broadcasting.
But the biggest shift comes in how fans will be able to interact with matches. Viewers streaming via Sky Glass, Sky Stream, or the Sky Sports app will get live data overlays—including player heatmaps, possession zones, and expected goals (xG) metrics—without needing to leave the broadcast feed. These overlays can be toggled on or off, giving fans more control over how much tactical detail they want while watching.
