I'm proud I've been a Pirate over 200 times

I WAS really proud to be able to make over 200 appearances for Cornish Pirates.
The only player who has played more for the club is current coach Alan Paver, and what a legend he is down there.
My fondest memories of Pirates didn't necessarily come in the games but more the camaraderie with the players. You get to meet lads from all over the world with different cultures and bond with them. It's not like you're at a normal professional club where everything is done for you, the players are expected to help out as much as you can with jobs on match days like seat covers or even painting the changing rooms but it's just those little experiences and jokes that spring to mind when you meet up or talk to guys again.Beating Saracens in 2021 was the highlight of my matches. We went into the game saying we were confident we were going to win, but I remember sitting in the car with three or four players on the way down to the game, thinking this could be a tough day. Well we were wrong and we put in a great team performance that day. Unfortunately it was during Covid times, so there was no crowd there to watch it with us, but we had a good celebration in the changing room afterwards. I don't think some boys left the club until lunch time the next day!
The Championship is definitely missing something without promotion/relegation. When we played Newcastle, we'd always have a great night out afterwards. It's nice to go to the likes of Falcons, Bristol, and Worcester and get stuck into them and get those experiences of playing at a big stadium. We beat Bristol a couple of times and beat Saracens and London Irish a few times as well. It's those big wins that hold in the memory for years, and it's unfortunate that players nowadays don't get that opportunity.
