WHETHER he starts or comes off the bench, Jaco Coetzee is just happy to be contributing fully to Bath’s revival after an injury-hit start to his career in blue, black and white.
In terms of impact players, there are none better than the South African in carrying the fight to the opposition in the Premiership this season.
The barnstorming No.8 with the spaghetti western moustache has ridden roughshod over opposition defenders when it comes to making metres with ball in hand.
No forward to have played more than one game this season averages more carries or post-contact metres per 80 minutes than the 28-year-old who relishes the physical side of the game.
Between rounds one to five, Coetzee averaged 25 carries and gained a metre for every minute he was on the pitch for Johann van Graan’s side, getting his team beyond the gain line two-thirds of the time he was in possession.
