EARLY bird Kairo Mitchell sent National League play-off hopefuls Rochdale into the last eight of the Isuzu FA Trophy – but it was far closer than it should have been.

Two goals from the Dale goal machine in the opening 20 minutes effectively settled a rather one-way affair at the Sussex Transport Community Stadium and there was little argument from National League South leaders Worthing.

Dale boss Jimmy McNulty said: “I don’t know how the game ended 2-1. If we’d scored eight goals, truthfully, and I don’t mean any disrespect to Worthing, I don’t think anyone would have said it was unfair.

“The Trophy definitely ranks secondary (to the league) but the league) but our fans keep reminding me how nice it would be to go to Wembley! Winning is a good habit.”
