Pearce's double lifts the leaders
YORK City stayed on top of the National League table after this smash-and-grab victory over Hartlepool United.
Adam Hinshelwood’s side were at their enterprising best in this LNER Community Stadium goal fest to record their first victory over Hartlepool in nine years.
Two goals from top scorer Ollie Pearce and one apiece from Alex Hunt and subs Ashley Nathaniel-George and Dipo Akinyemi were enough to see off a dogged Pools side who refused to relent and replied through David Ferguson, Luke Charman and Mani Dieseruvwe.
But, although delighted by the result, Hinshelwood reaffirmed that there were still improvements to be made to his side.
