RUNNING IS LIKELY a pretty big part of your day-to-day, with training sessions, group runs, and races just as important to your schedule as some of your other responsibilities.

How to Take a Running Break (and Actually Enjoy It)

And if you're like me, you wouldn't have it any other way. But what happens when life intervenes and you're suddenly forced to take a prolonged break from running, or slow down significantly? I connected with RW+ member Jason Hogge, 47, from Calgary, Alberta, who has a half marathon under his belt and used to average almost 40 miles a week, despite being fairly new to running. Because of extenuating circumstances, he had to seriously reduce his mileage after his first 13.1, which left him feeling disappointed that he couldn't sustain such high mileage all year long.

He wanted to know how to make peace with taking a running break. Sound familiar? Follow my advice.
