1 AMELIA MACDOUGALL

AGE 20 (22 FEB 2005) // BORN ENFIELD, NORTH LONDON POSITION FLY-HALF // CLUB SARACENS // COUNTRY ENGLAND

How did you get into rugby? My two older brothers (Thomas and Harry) were playing and I went down aged six.

Why did you opt to play rugby? I played football and we had a school netball team, but I always knew I wanted to play rugby when I was older - it had a lot more togetherness. You've got to work for each other.

What positions did you play? I've not really played anywhere apart from ten. In the U18 Six Nations I was at 12 and a bit in the U20s last year. Then I moved back to ten, though I played scrumhalf v France in the Six Nations Summer Series. Which was interesting.

When was your first England rep game? 2023, in the U18 Six Nations v Wales at Wellington College. I played 12. The most nervous I've been going into a game. I try not to be nervous as I play my best rugby when I'm confident and excited about a game. A few players who'd worn the shirt before helped me out, telling me that it was just another game of rugby.

Who was your hero growing up? Owen Farrell. Coming through the Sarries pathway, I used to go to all the games and with him being a ten I looked up to him. It's cool that he's back at Sarries now.

Describe your playing style... I hope I'm pretty unpredictable. I don't want defenders to know what to expect when I'm on the ball.

Your biggest strength? I like to take the ball to the line, so that defenders bite in on me and I can send people through gaps.
