The Welsh presenter on role models, grilling guests on TV and being married to the game

- WITH SARRA ELGAN

MY RUGBY WORLD

What's your earliest rugby memory? I was pretty much brought up on the rugby fields of Wales. From a young age, my dad [Elgan Rees] would take me to places like Glamorgan Wanderers and Aberavon because he played. It's hard to pinpoint a single memory because rugby has always been a massive part of my life. I also have a terrible memory!

Who are the best role models in the game right now? I love Meg Jones. I love her personality on and off the field. She makes playing rugby look easy. It's also easy to talk to her after a game. It's strange for me to interview her because she's Welsh and speaks Welsh but plays for England, and is very passionate about both. She's awesome.

And any male players stand out? Marcus Smith. He's great for the game. You always know you're going to get a moment from him in a match. He's also a great ambassador for the game off the field. Although young, he doesn't seem to mind the pressure.

Which players did you look up to when you were growing up? I'm trying to think of my dad's generation. My dad played for Neath. Jonathan Davies started playing there towards the end of my dad's career. I was about nine or ten and I remember watching him and thinking, 'wow, this guy's incredible'. He's a standout for me.
