JOHN TERRY

"I don't regret wearing full kit to lift the Champions League trophy - we got a letter from UEFA, saying I had to do it!"
-
After joining the club as a schoolboy, John Terry rose to become one of Chelsea's most iconic players and captains. Gianluca Vialli gave him his debut in 1998 but his breakthrough came in 2000-01, when he starred in defence with Marcel Desailly and was named the club's player of the season. In 2004, Jose Mourinho arrived and Terry grew into one of the finest defenders of his generation.
Alongside his trusted lieutenant, Frank Lampard, Terry led the Blues through a golden era, winning five Premier League titles in his career, plus five FA Cups, three League Cups, the Champions League and the Europa League. He also captained England's 'Golden Generation', but couldn't guide a world-class group of players into even the last four of a major tournament.
Away from the pitch, the centre-back was embroiled in controversy more than once. During his career, Terry faced a series of accusations, legal charges and tabloid scandals that meant he was twice stripped of the England captaincy, prior to his international retirement in 2012. He later played for Aston Villa before hanging his boots up in 2018, going into coaching.
Widely considered one of England's greatest ever defenders, the 44-year-old prepares to answer FFT readers' questions...
